Objectives of Project

The main objectives of the complete research project are as follows:

    1. A community-wide testing capacity in the Netherlands and South Africa through the testing of waste, surface and greywater (Work Package 1);

    2. Existing methods for SARS-CoV-2 RNA detection in urban waste (water) streams (waste water, sludge, surface, ground and greywater) and fine-tune them (Work Package 2).

    3. Develop strategies to scale up the monitoring programmes to large representative fractions of the Dutch and South African population. Develop data analysis and visualization tools that collect wastewater and epidemiological data to better understand virus circulation in communities. (Work Package 3)
